Taiyuan, July 15, China Youth (reported by Wang Zaiwen and Zhang Shilin) In order to positively respond to the call of President Xi, who encouraged the young people to be“diligent, virtuous, discerning and honest”, as well as to cultivate and practice socialist core values, the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of Shanxi University recently organized a student volunteer group. These students had their social practice in the Meizhimu Special Education Center of Taiyuan, where they closely talked with autistic children and learned about their inner world.

    Under the guidance of professional training teachers of the education center, students from SFL conducted active communication with autistic children and gradually knew more about them. Meanwhile, students from SFL gave excellent performances and organized many interesting games such as Pulling Up Radish and Three-Legged Race. Children took an active part in the games and enjoyed a lot. The volunteer group also donated daily supplies worth more than 1,000 yuan to the special education center.

    "The social practice offered us an opportunity to care more about those disadvantaged groups. Only by integrating the practice and theoretical knowledge into one can the socialist core values be implemented and can more people in need get substantial help." said Wang Zhuoran, one of the group members.
