1、Introduction
The undergraduate program aims at training students in language skills and translation skills. It is intended not only to produce students with wide scope of knowledge and competence in cross-culture communication, but also to improve their ability of independent thinking and practical use of language, which lays a solid foundation for students to acquire skills in translation and interpretation and cultivate a strong sense of social responsibility and professional ethics. After this 4-year program, students will become high-level English professionals with comprehensive command of knowledge and skills to be competent for careers in international trade, foreign affairs, international communication in culture and science, translation and interpretation or for further postgraduate programs.
Besides the intensive training of language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing, students will be trained to have a systematic command of knowledge, theories and skills in translation and interpretation, business and communication. Their scope of Chinese and Chinese culture will be further extended in order to achieve successful performance in cultural communication with their wide scope of both foreign and domestic culture. On such foundations, students will acquire a rich accumulation of knowledge related to humanities, science and technology and achieve both a good performance in bilingual communication of language and culture, and competence to research and work independently with the ability of organization and coordination.
