 On December 25, 2016, Russian majors of the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of Shanxi University held a heated party in Room 301 of the new teaching building of SFL. The party got the strong support from the school leadership and the positive response from teachers and students of the Russian specialty.

The leaders of SFL, secretary Liu Chunyuan, Dean Wu Yaxin, Russian professor Wang Liming and retired senior professor Wu Changfu who won the Chinese Russian Education Outstanding Contribution Award delivered warm speeches. They told of the long glorious history of the Russian major in Shanxi University from different perspectives and expressed their New Year wishes.

    The party was held in a cheerful and warm atmosphere. All Russian major students showed their performance talents as well as their professional knowledge.

The year of 2016 is a harvest year for the Russian Department of SFL, Shanxi University: 13 undergraduates of 2012 passed the Russian major postgraduate exam of Beijing Foreign Studies University, Xi'an International Studies University, Heilongjiang University and so on. All Russian major students from the undergraduates of 2014 passed the Test for Russian Major (Grade 4) with the excellent rate of 33%. 6 students received funding from the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and went to Russia to pursue further education at public expenses. Professor Wang Liming published important academic papers on World Russian Teachers Association Journal русский язык за рубежом. Moreover, two retired professors Wu Changfu and Zhang Wenyu won the Award of Outstanding Contribution for Chinese Russian Education. All of this make Russian major students gain a firmer faith in learning Russian well.
