From Sept. 6th to Sept. 15th, 2015, the 17th Asian Skydiving Championship ＆ China Skydiving Open Tournament were held at the Yaocheng Airport, Qingxu County, Shanxi Province. Ten volunteers from the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of Shanxi University satisfactorily accomplished their voluntary service in this sport event.
Many Asian countries participated in this competition, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain. Besides, some European parachuting athletes also attended the championship. Although SFL volunteers were short-handed, they still completed a large quantity of tasks efficiently, including translation and life guidance. During the competition, besides doing translation, volunteers also helped coordinating competition time and checking score. Despite the heavy tasks and limited time, they didn’t complain about the tiredness and hard work, and finally completed the tasks successfully.
This volunteer work has brought new experience to the volunteers. They have made a group of foreign friends and known some professional vocabulary concerning skydiving. In addition, the level of their English has been greatly improved. Volunteers all said they will take part in more such activities in future and make life become more substantial.
