　　张绍杰、张克定、陈新仁三位教授来我院讲学
Professors Zhang Shaojie, Zhang Keding and Chen Xinren Deliver Lectures in SFL 

　On September 18, 2015, the School of Foreign Languages of Shanxi University (SFL) held an academic lecture series. Professor Zhang Shaojie, doctoral supervisor of School of Foreign Languages of Northeast Normal University, Professor Zhang Keding, doctoral supervisor of School of Foreign Languages of Henan University, Professor Chen Xinren, doctoral supervisor of the Foreign Languages Institute of Nanjing University were invited to give lectures.
   Professor Zhang Shaojie’s lecture was entitled “The Theoretical Research and Empirical Research in the Study of Language”. He analysed the differences, values and limitations, and the respective application fields of the theoretical research method and the empirical research method from the linguistic research methods, and ascertained the tendency of valuing the empirical research and despising the theoretical research in the current linguistic circles.
   Professor Zhang Keding’s lecture was entitled “The Speaker’s Intention and Motivation of Imperative Conditions Constructions”. He integrates “construction”, the hot spot of cognitive linguistic research, with “intent” which is the core issue of pragmatics, and discovers specific pragmatic intentions, such as prohibiting intention, inducing intention, suggestive intention, etc.    
  Professor Chen Xinren’s lecture, “The Orientation, Resources and Challenges of Chinese Pragmatics Local Theory Building”, gives an overview of the current development of Chinese pragmatics and the enlightenment of Japanese pragmatics research development. It focused on the innovative road of Chinese pragmatics. Professor Chen believes that only when China’s pragmatics takes the localization road can its innovation in theory be made possible.
  The Q & A discussion section after the lecture enjoyed a warm atmosphere. Each expert answered the questions raised by teachers and students in detail. The lectures had attracted not only the teachers and students of SFL, but also the key teachers from the Foreign Languages Institutes of other colleges in Shanxi Province. Professor Wu Yaxin, dean of SFL, concluded that the three academic lectures include the discussion of scientific research methods, the latest achievements in interdisciplinary research of syntax and pragmatics, as well as the development direction for the innovation of Chinese pragmatic theory. Professor Wu encouraged all the teachers and students to absorb the essence of the three academic lectures, base themselves in personal research fields and continue to explore and innovate positively.
